"It is a complex world", that is what we often hear about the CMS sector and its periphery embracing adjacent technologies and solutions.

To outsiders it might look like a complex world, but in fact it isn't at all. CMS can be split in different subniches and subdomains (okay the overlap between different domains can be sometimes challenging even for the professionals who are active in this sectors for many years, but this only shows that the CMS market is still evolving) and different types of companies are active in this field from product and technology providers over integrators, who customize and integrate this technology with your own internal or other existing tools, to web agencies and creative providers. Of course we do not want to forget specialized companies focusing on several other aspects in the CMS Market like consultancy, usability expertise, web analytics & SEO expertise, … .

This book is intended for those who are interested in the CMS market and those who need a preliminary insight if starting up any CMS related project. We cover different aspects on CMS, how to start a project and how the legal aspects are to be considered when working with content. The book also provides a vast company directory with a preliminary European focus. We are already working on next year's edition where this focus will be even more present.

Oh, and before you start reading this, bear in mind that any CMS project is not only about technology and tools, but also about people, processes and change management. The latter may be an important item for your project success.

We hope you'll be content after reading this book.
